Brian Sowards, AI consultant and practitioner

Brian Sowards

I've spent years as an AI Architect, building on cloud infrastructure to deliver solutions in cybersecurity, defense, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and education. That work taught me how enterprise systems actually behave under pressure, not how they're described in architecture diagrams.

I founded Funderbolt, a platform for student loan refinancing, which was acquired by CampusLogic. Running a company through a growth phase and a successful exit gave me a different perspective on what operations leaders actually need from technology investments, and what makes the difference between a tool that gets used and one that gets ignored.

Now I use Claude Code as my primary working environment across multiple client engagements in construction, financial services, and education. I build integrations, automate workflows, and train teams, often in the same week. The distinction that matters: I teach what I shipped yesterday, not what I read about last week.

What Makes Brian Different

Daily production use, not demo knowledge

Every technique I teach, I used this week in a client engagement. The friction points I know about are real ones.

Enterprise architecture background

Deep infrastructure and systems experience from Microsoft. I understand integration complexity before the first call.

Founded and sold a company

I understand the business pressure behind the training request. Acquisition teaches you what operations actually costs.

Teaches what shipped yesterday

Not what I read about last week. When I describe an AI workflow, it exists in production somewhere.
